BRENT HOLGATE

Psychologist

As a psychologist, Brent approaches his work with a passion for enriching the lives of his clients. With an empathetic, open-minded, and honest demeanor, Brent fosters a client-centered therapeutic environment. He views therapy as a collaborative journey, striving to establish genuine connections that encourage clients to openly share their challenges, fears, desires, hopes, and joys.

Brent is particularly drawn to exploring the existential themes that pervade our lives. He finds great fulfillment in supporting clients as they navigate these themes, helping them make choices that foster meaning and fulfillment. Through this authentic and compassionate approach, Brent aims to be a steadfast companion on each client’s path to personal growth and self-discovery.

Brent endeavors to create a therapeutic space that prioritizes a deep, holistic understanding of each client's unique experience, rather than relying on diagnostic labels. He believes in the importance of acknowledging individual differences and recognizing how these differences interact with our personal experiences and cultural environment. Brent approaches each client with humility and openness, striving to truly understand and honor their distinct journey.

Brent works with older adolescents (17+) and adults who present with a variety of challenges, symptoms, and psychological uncertainties. These may be related to difficulties with:

·       Identity, self-confidence, sense of self, lack of meaning

·       Depressive and anxiety dispositions

·       Grief and loss and experiences of change

·       Relationship difficulties within various domains

·       Impacts of trauma

Brent has worked with adolescents and adults in private and community settings since 2013 and engages clients using evidence-based treatment modalities that include existential therapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy, and mindfulness and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Therapy can be short or long term with attention both to addressing symptoms and what might be underlying these.
